Multi facet logo designs

Here are some of the logos that I brought into the meeting last week. I know we are thinking beyond the whole 3d geometric shape idea, but I thought it would help with some inspiration.

The Mit Media Lab logo design is more of an identity system, which has more than 40,000 unique logo variations for staff, students and the faculty involved. This is a little bit extreme, but there remains a nice idea behind it that the position of the colour/direction can identify a person or faculty/group of people.

The City of Melbourne logo is flexible and is used to represent Melbourne as a single entity, in addition to a variety of sub-brands. The logo design itself is chosen specifically to match with a certain project's/events personality and in this same way could match with the specific design faculties without making the reference too obvious (eg. pink logo - fashion).

Another logo I found that uses this same idea of multi-faceted logos. I like the range of simplicity and detail in addition to the playfulness of some of the designs.

On another note here is an image I found of a wayfinding system. Although the whole yellow lightbox might be too costly and hard to achieve, the simplicity of the colour palette and the uppercase elegant typography really does it for me.

Something I found that immediately reminded me of the UTS Tower building. The architectural design of the building in some ways can be identified as a strong graphic form. Just thought I would put it out there, not really a logo we would go for but something interesting to think about.

An interesting idea of how we could divide the space between faculties, and would be easy to install/uninstall.
