Looking at some of the examples of illustrated and personalised signage made me think of Sara Fanelli's Modern Art timeline at the Tate Modern.
She's also made a kind of concertina book of the mural too - nice way of bringing together two different mediums. I definitely think that the catalogue/way-finding system/brochure of the show should have a bit of a keepsake aspect to it - rather than last years which probably hit the bins as soon as people walked out. If the collateral is something people want to keep or even use later then it will encourage others to come check out the show, etc. The best advertising is word of mouth, after all!
I was also talking to Bec Paton last night and she was telling me at her graduate show all the grads had a space not unlike the ones we have at the moment, but above their areas were these lamps that one could put images around (type, illustration or whatever) and each student got to choose what would go on their lamp - creating a nice atmosphere around that students work and truly making it their own.

ReplyDeleteGorgeous, simple work but really strong graphically. And a bit of a yummy design snack for your eyes...
